Some of the trickiest questions asked in Interview
One of the questions asked in UPSE civil service. the candidate was from an engineering background.
The question was:-
Why does milk overflow when boiled where water does not?
His answer was, when milk is boiled the water/moisture become vapour. But it is trapped under the top creamy layer of milk. So vapour tries to pushes up, spilling out the milk. In case of boiling water, there is no layer formed so vapour evaporates freely,
That's spot on.
He became the IPS officer, he added in his success story in the newspaper. adding that he was surprised by this question.
Another tricky question asked in an interview is?
Interviewer:- There is one scooter which has two tyres and one spare tyre/Stepney meaning three tyre total. Each type can run up to 5km only. How long will scooter run till?
Candidate was Confused, one through my mind that 5 kms obviously one each tyre cant go further than 5 km. So he thought this question can't be that simple, there something tricky in this question. After thinking a couple of minutes he got the answer and said 7.5kms
Interviewer :- How?
Candidate:- Since each tyre can go 5km, First run 2.5km and change the 1st tyre with Stepney. Now km remain for 1st tyre is 2.5km and 2nd tyre is also 2.5 and Stepney with 5km.
Again run the scooter for another 2.5km and stop, Now km remain for 1st tyre is 2.5km and 2nd tyre is 0km and Stepney 2.5km.
Again run the scooter with 1st tyre and Stepney for remain 2.5km.
So total scooter travelled is for 7.5km.
